Go to open days in June so that you have more time to decide which universities you like.
Finish your personal statement in plenty of time so that you have the opportunity to amend it.
Give your personal statement to all of your subject teachers and ask if they could have a quick look – all constructive comments can help.
If you want to go to a particular university, look through their prospectus and use key words from it in your personal statement. They will recognise your attempt to specify your preference in a sneaky but clever manner.
In your personal statement talk more about the unique things that you have studied.
Get plenty of relevant work experience.
If you are going a long distance, travel how you would if you were at the university so you get a real feel for how you would like it.
